Connelly Electric partnered with Northern Builders and JLG Architects to construct the Wintrust Crossroads Sports Complex. This 100-acre, 31 field complex is located at the crossroads of Interstates I-355 and I-80, next to Silver Cross Hospital and 45 minutes southwest of Chicago. The state-of-the-art facility includes over 1 mile of roadway, 1.376 million SF of synthetic turf ,13 miles of underdrainage, extensive field Sports lighting, 9 professional turf baseball diamonds/fields, 22 youth baseball or softball diamonds/fields and 11 multi-use fields accommodating soccer, lacrosse and football.
The Wintrust Crossroads Sports Complex currently includes two fenced in batting cages, and adjustable fields designed to accommodate athletes of all ages. All fields have an extensive drainage system that can filter up to 20 inches of rain per hour, allowing turf fields to be ready for play even minutes after heavy rainfall. For fans, the Complex offers a welcome center, two full-service concession stands, a Coors Light Chill Zone (Beer Garden), a Pepsi Play area, a playground, and 1,300 free parking spaces. This impressive project was completed within one year.
Electrical systems installed by Connelly Electric included the installation of Beer Garden, Concession stand(s), & maintenance facility power; professional sports lighting at fields; pathway, building, parking, & roadway lighting; park electrical distribution including scoreboard and food truck ports; fire alarm systems in all buildings; and building and park low voltage infrastructure.
This $70M complex has already exceeded expectations, more than doubling initial sponsorship projections to over $2.5M. Direct visitor spending estimates have surged from $12.8M to $37M—nearly tripling original forecasts. These results are driven by strategic, aggressive marketing efforts that have positioned the facility to be fully booked every weekend through June 2026.
